The Backyard Of My Life

She's The One That Keeps The Dream Alive

Like a flower in the rain
I waited for some satisfaction
When out of nowhere
Without reason or rhyme
With a revolution running around her head

She stepped in on to the scene
She speaks of love so softly
She says hope always beats hate
There she goes gazing up at the stars
She's the one that keeps the dream alive

Like a bluebird on barbed wire
It was tough on a tight rope
When suddenly winter came and went
Without warning or any indication
With yellow roses circled in her long blonde hair

She burst in and set the night on fire
Talking all about what the future might hold
Shes says nothing easy is worth having
Here she goes again trying to touch the sky
Shes the one that keeps the dream alive

With wishes of wanderlust
Her fantasies only seem to thrive
She moves in mysterious ways
Shes the one that keeps the dream alive

Like a diamond in the rough
I prayed for passion in the rapture
When my faith turned to ash in the flames
Without mercy or meaning
With imitation emerald eyes shining so bright

She demanded my attention and time
She whispers like a breath away from heaven
She says we're free to be anything we want
There she goes with the universe on a string
Shes the one that keeps the dream alive
Shes the one that keeps the dream alive
Shes the one that keeps the dream alive
